Villa Style LIving Room

Our clients requested the feeling of a grand European salon for entertaining in their formal living room. Through the addition of a custom designed chimneypiece, along with custom designed architectural woodwork, moldings, and lighting, we were able to transform this formerly featureless room into one that exudes refined, comfortable luxury. A hand-knotted custom silk and wool carpet grounds this magnificent space. Antique and reproduction furniture add grandeur, as to does the beautiful custom detailing on the ceiling, and the grand scale of the classical crown molding. A crystal chandelier anchors the seating area, and the custom limestone mantelpiece and coordinating chimney piece provide a visual focal point for this luxury living room. WKD’s design brief was to infuse graceful grandeur for entertaining into this former 1907 stable and carriage house. One would imagine that the carriage house held, at least to some degree, historic and beautiful architectural details. However, this was not the case. Everything – architectural moldings, flooring, hardware, etc. - were designed and fabricated to the designer’s specifications. The home features a stunning French-style salon, elaborate adjacent dining room, a handsome paneled library, a Tuscan inspired gourmet kitchen and dining area, a wet bar, a beautifully landscaped outdoor terrace, and a stunning master bath.
