Traditional Farmhouse Kitchen

The existing structural post to the left, replaced with a distressed rough hewn post, is the element around which this kitchen was designed. With its matching non structural partner to the right, the posts and corbels add character to the space and make visual sense of the kitchen coved ceiling treatment. The peninsula separating the dining nook from the kitchen helps mitigate any awkwardness created by the differing floor heights between the two spaces. The kitchen has both a feeling of defined space as well as an airy spaciousness associated with the abundant natural light from the large bay kitchen window. The glass french door to the formal dining room, the glass fronted wall cabinetry as well as the glass display cabinetry creates abundant reflected light in this charming kitchen.
