With a quiet color scheme of mostly green and white, as well as a relatively limited variety of species, leaf color consistency becomes a primary objective. With no riot of color to dominate the eye, fluctuations in the shades of green are more noticeable. This comes into play when a multitude of one plant, such as the Pachysandra groundcover, is planted in both sun and shade. The Pachysandra planted in full sun has a tendency to bleach-out, so it is given a special treatment to restore its deeper green hue to match the Pachysandra growing in shade.
