Suburban Living Room

My clients wanted a "grown-up" room for entertaining and relaxing in their lovely circa 1920-era Colonial Revival home on a quiet tree-lined suburban street. Two existing French armchairs upholstered in a cool green and coral floral fabric were the starting points for the decor. We brought in a patterned Dhurri rug, a leather ottoman, and two club chairs to round out the main seating area. On one large wall we added a set of tall bookcases accessorized with potted plants, plates, family photos and books. One corner of the room is home to a bar convenient for entertaining. The large double windows on either side of the fireplace are dressed in ready-made silk curtains and sheers. Lighting and accessories complete the look. Photos by Susan Sims Photography.
