Reviving a bland mid-century ranch in Muttontown

The awkwardly soaring vaulted ceiling that the former owners built over the Living Room was replaced with a 10' high ceiling, set above the transom windows, to create a more formal setting in the Living Room. A distinctly different mantle was designed with mahogany carved elements, featuring acanthus leaves, from Enkeboll Designs in California. This view shows how the interior transom windows above the trimmed openings match the exterior transom windows. Tall three piece baseboard mouldings and two piece crown mouldings were designed to complement the taller ceiling heights. Photo by Glen Grayson, AIA
