Phoenix House
This split-level new house overlooks the River Dart in Devon and is set over four floors on a steeply sloping site in Dartmouth. It has been designed to maximise the spectacular views with all major rooms enjoying the elevated position above the river. The exposed laminated oak timber frame has been designed and engineered to the highest standard. The main living spaces are at the entrance level and provide full-height glazed walls to enjoy the elevated views of the estuary. A different view over the river and surrounding towns is seen through every window.
The contemporary timber frame allows a completely open-plan layout with kitchen, dining and sitting areas flowing seamlessly.
The exterior of the house is deliberately more traditional to be in-keeping with the Dartmouth townscape of slate roofs, dormer windows and balconies.
The inclusion of a concrete roof over the lower accommodation provided a much-needed car parking and turning area of the steep access road to the rear.
