Oriental Wooden Bucket and Grain Scoop

These rustic wooden buckets are from Shanxi in central China and date from the first half of the 20th century. They have been repaired but left in a natural, pale finish. Great today as containers for kindling wood or as newspaper and magazine holders. Once used at a Chinese market for scooping grain or rice, these simple wooden scoops are nice as decorative objects, as fruit bowls or for displaying flowers
