Modest Tacoma Cottage/Traditional

Our DIY kitchen. we took down the wall separating the dining room and framed it out with a simple trimmed archway. We added drop down lighting and modified the hood (it used to be attached to the wall separating the kitchen and dining room). We redid the typical laminate counter top with off white mini-subway tiles to add to the character of the house. We widened the counter top for a breakfast bar as well as built in storage space in the counter on the dining room side that would have otherwise been wasted empty space. We repainted all the upper cupboards a clean white and painted the lower cupboards the off white that matched the counter top tiles, and also added some classic hardware to the drawers and cupboard doors. I also added some height to the upper cupboards by building an extra 6in" trim board to the top.
