LEED Platinum House in Wyncote, PA

This is a residential renovation project that brought the house to LEED Platinum certified. The renovation involved adding solar panels to the south face side of the roof and installing a geothermal well for heat and electricity. Windows with a ceramic glaze, filtering out the infrared solar rays, were used to reduce heat and a metal cantilever was installed to collect the suns heat n the winter. Prism “chimneys” were placed throughout the roof that redirects sunlight into house, reducing the need for artificial light. This house is so energy efficient, the owner receives on average $5000 per year from his electrical company. John Hubert Architects in Wyncote, PA designed this house. Photography by Joe Kitchen
