Lake Tahoe Vacation Home
The original kitchen had a bump-out window, four feet deep, which not only cramped the exterior deck space, but also was difficult to access across the four-foot counters inside.
Our plans removed that window, and reconfigured the entire rear wall of the house, so that the indoor/outdoor egress was more suitable to the dining and living room areas, and most importantly, a big center panel of all-glass provides the most advantageous and uninterrupted view of the lake.
The kitchen footprint did not change. With a range and hood worthy of keeping, we added a Sub-Zero built-in refrigerator, and new cabinet doors of reclaimed wood from a 100-year-old-barn in Massachusetts. All door and drawer pulls are integral to cabinet faces; the remodel included new granite countertops plus a quartzite top on the island.
