Here's the weather face of the house. Looking directly out on the Pacific Ocean. Low maintenance finishes were the key: redwood with a semi transparent stain, ceramic tile wall cladding, and cast stone veneer. When installed by artisans the stone veneer was indistinguishable from a limestone wall and it was light weight - desirable in an earthquake zone.
