Situated on Bexley Lane, a charming residential street in South-East London featuring a unique array of large and small dwellings, this project involved a complete remodelling and enlargement of a small, detached dwelling. Purchased by a young family with a vision for their dream home, the property underwent a remarkable transformation. The primary objective of the design brief was to meet the family's need for more space while cultivating a sense of openness and flexibility. To achieve this, our concept focused on upscaling the living accommodation and creating inviting open-plan spaces on the ground floor. The result was a thoughtfully crafted design that almost doubled the existing footprint by introducing a double-storey side and rear extensions. Chirag Desai Architects had the privilege of being involved in every stage of this project, from feasibility assessment to overseeing the planning process. Additionally, we provided crucial design packages to support both the clients and the builder throughout the construction phase.
