A Three Acre Rock Quarry: Landscape between a rock and a hard place

The property was a deserted three acre rock quarry. Planting areas and irrigation possibilities were at a minimum and the sustenance of a lawn was impossible. The solution was to plant a lavender field of the bluest lavender (Provence) to compliment the blue of the sky and pool. The lavender Irrigation consists of 2gph drippers per plant a consistent water schedule to allow for best saturation. The blossoms are harvested a few weeks after the blossoms are spent and the lavender has been planted intervals allowing for walking through the filed while only brushing lightly against the plants. The result is a vast lavender field displaying life in an natural setting. Photo: Xavier Perez-Grobet
