Pink & Yellow: Is This the Best Colour Combination You've Seen?
Let's find out what happens when the two hues meet
I love the idea of choosing two very bold colours and using them as the basis of my design choices in a room. I admire people who can carry those colour choices throughout a whole house although doing that tends to be tough for me. One colour combination that a lot of people stay away from is pink and yellow. They use it just for nurseries. Although it’s great in nurseries, it’s a combination that can work elsewhere is well.
One trick to making this work is to choose the right shades of each colour. Yellow varies from a light ecru to a bold sunshine. Pink varies from subtle rose to neon attention-getter. Choosing the right shades will make the difference when using this colour combo in your home.
Another thing to pay attention to is what other colours are in the room. It’s possible to use these colours in a room with other bold colours – jewel tones or even smoky greys. However, it’s more typical to set them against white or another low-key colour.
Do you dare to try something like this in your home?

This room shows a perfect example of how these two colours work wonderfully in a girls’ bedroom. Personally, I would have done the accent wall here in yellow instead of green to maximise the effect. Would you?
This is a great example of how you can choose tones within each colour family that really compliment one another. A dusty rose for the pink and a cream colour instead of true yellow will combine together to create a very romantic ambience for your home.

Pink can be a nice bold touch in a classic yellow room. The room can be a very mellow, subtle colour of yellow. This is chic and professional in appearance but the pink accent shows off your bolder side.
A room that is primarily decorated in pink works really great when you add bold yellow accent pieces to it. The piece of artwork on the wall here is a terrific example of that. A bold yellow vase on the table would also work well here.
One great way to include both colours in your house is to do them in adjacent rooms. A yellow hallway that leads into a pink bedroom or bathroom creates a fun house with a surprise around every corner.

Neither yellow nor pink has to be the main colour in a room for this colour combination to work. In fact, a white room that has small touches of each of these colours is a great choice. I love how the yellow and pink decorations on the wall work in this cute nursery.
Pillows are always one of my favourite places to play around with new colour combinations. Pink and yellow pillows can be placed in different ways to give you an idea of how you do (or don’t) like these colours together.

Another cool way to combine colours in a space is to use mismatched chairs at the kitchen table. This yellow chair and pink chair together really show off how these colours can compliment one another even in a busy space.
Most people would never think of pairing pink and yellow with grey, would they? But take a look here at how wonderfully bold and interesting this colour combination is. I love it. Do you dare?
