Modern Icons: The Egg Chair
For awhile there I found myself constantly mixing up the Egg Chair and the Womb Chair. I thought it was just the reproduction-themed names, but it turns out that the Womb Chair may have inspired the Egg Chair. I suppose that means the chicken came before the egg! The Egg Chair was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the lobby of The Royal SAS Hotel in Copenhagen, which made that 1958 Danish Radisson the most stylish Radisson in history!
The Egg Chair gets along very well with the Noguchi Coffee Table.
A leather Egg Chair is a great masculine touch in this home office.
In this picture you can really feel how cozy and enveloping the Egg can be (great function) and it also shows off just how sculptural and beautiful its form is.
The Egg can do crisp and white very well.
The Egg Chair is a great reading chair in a bedroom, especially when paired with a matching ottoman.
I came across this Egg Chair on the Modern Atlanta Tour of Homes. Atlantans, I can't recommend this tour enough. It's worth trekking all over the city to hit all of the homes on the tour!
Side Note: Isn't this arrangement of FLOR carpet tiles wonderful?!

Egg Chairs are not just for adults! This one is a perfect choice for a fun and graphically bold children's room.

I'm dating myself here, but there is something very "is it live, or is it Memorex?" about this image!
