Cool Wallpaper Spotted: Wait, No It's Fabric!
Woodsy-modern pattern adds whimsy and color to a baby-friendly bathroom
This is a peek inside the bathroom of my favorite Brooklyn, New York, shop, Caribou Baby. I wish every diaper change of my baby girl could happen in this pretty space. Obviously, the wall pattern is the look I most want to steal. But I was so surprised to find out its origin.
Expecting to hear that this pattern is from some new cool wallpaper line (which all seem to run $125 a roll), I was stunned to hear that the walls of this bathroom are covered in none other than Ikea fabric.
Read on for more details of this bathroom makeover, and I’ll share some rooms with a similar wallpaper style (that are probably on the pricier side of cool).

The layers of colors and the bird and treehouse motif capture that modern woodsy style I love.
You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on wallpaper to get a rad, modern pattern. At $7.99 a yard, this Monalis fabric is quite a steal.

This wallpaper has a tree motif that also has a rustic modern style. Wallpaper — or fabric used as wallpaper — with vertical lines in the pattern, as in this wallpaper with the trees, helps make a room appear taller.
Birds of a feather flock together. This wallpaper pattern reminds me of the fabric on the walls in the Caribou Baby bathroom. The big difference is that this wallpaper is just black and white.
Daydream Wallpaper, Gray
This bird-motif wallpaper by designer Julia Rothman has a whimsical spirit. The dark colors create a cozy feeling, much like the Ikea fabric.
I love the look of darker wallpaper in a bathroom. It adds to that cozy, intimate vibe you hope to have while you’re in the loo.

Teamed with a vintage black pendant light and wood accents, the wallcovering gives the bathroom a perfectly rustic modern style that also feels happy.
Tip: If you’re looking to make over the space by your baby’s changing table, know that patterns and colors definitely attract babies (and help distract them while you’re doing a diaper change).
