Bathed in Color: When to Use Bold Orange in the Bath
Orange you glad this warm and happy color can energize the place where you start your day?
Orange is a happy color that we tend to associate with warmth, sociability and creativity. It's a great bathroom color choice if you live in a cold climate, as it will help warm you up on the chilliest days — those who live in hot climates might want to use the color sparingly.
If you are considering using this feisty hue in a bathroom, there are a few things to keep in mind when selecting your palette. If you go bright and bold, use the orange in limited doses or with toned-down neutrals. Keep the design very simple (with unfussy decorative accessories), otherwise you'll experience sensory overload.
Warm hues tend to advance, and cool colors recede, so darker oranges will make a bathroom feel smaller. Want to work with a saturated orange? If your bathroom lacks natural light, you might want to pump it up with better lighting. If you opt for a softer orange, it can work as a neutral background hue that pairs well with many other colors and can handle more things going on in the room.

What an absolutely charming bathroom! The saturated orange wall color is the perfect backdrop for those beautiful pendants and the filigreed shadows they cast. The room simply glows.
Admittedly this bathroom is not for everyone, but for those who love lots of bold color throughout a space, I think it illustrates how to successfully pull it off — by keeping the design and decoration minimalist. You could add some art and accessories in other colors to break up the orange, but I would still keep them very simple.
If you like the intense orange color in the previous bathroom but want a smaller dose of it, check out this stylish space with its eye-popping orange tiled accent wall. With the bulk of the bathroom clad in white and ample daylight pouring in through the skylight, the space reamins light and open.
You could also go with a more neutral palette overall and add a dash of hot orange via furniture or accessories only. The tougher-to-change items in this bathroom would make a terrific backdrop for furniture and accessories in any color. A neutral background palette would give you lots of options to play with color down the road without having to completely renovate the space.
Orange mixed with other warm hues, such as red and yellow, creates a colorful but harmonious palette. This bathroom's abundant light, white walls and high ceilings allow for a liberal use of bright color without making the space feel claustrophobic.
Consider bringing color in via wall coverings, such as this fun wallpaper. These particular shades of orange are energy boosting — a great choice in a bathroom where you spend the morning showering and getting ready to start the day.
Try painting one small wall a favorite orange. This is a great low-commitment way to get a little punch of color in a room. This more toned-down orange is a good choice for a bathroom where you want to spend some time relaxing in the tub.
Here is another lovely bathroom clad in a mellower orange, but one that still has plenty of vibrancy. Many wood tones read as orange, so the combination of wood and orange in a room imparts a warm, rich and cozy vibe.
