collandrew's ideas
Dining - have been considering whether to have the chairs be colored like this - the Crate and Barrel Lowe leather chairs come in red, persimmon (not as bright as this photo), and ocean, in addition to some pretty colors of brown and tan. Also considering whether to have a rug with brighter color accents underneath - and probably not both colored chairs and rug, but one or the other.
Kids room - similar to the blue and brown kids room, and the one with the safari headboard, I like how this is a kids room that is more sophisticated and not full of "typical" kids stuff. There are fun elements in it, but it doesn't scream "kid!" Maybe I do like chartreuse, as I seem to keep flagging rooms with it. The kids like this room, but mostly because they think the loft is cool.
Like the drapes, and like the yellow and brown together for either bedroom, probably more the master.
Kids room - Beanbags, floor cushions, or poufs like this would be both decorative and highly used in the kids room. George says the cushion/poufs aren't big enough. They want blue/green, not these colors.
Kids room - I love the color palette in this kids room, but they want brighter colors.
Kids room - More colors they really like, with some silly fur accents. Looking for a more tailored less feminine look though.
Kids room - We don't have built ins nor this amount of space, but like how the colors go together with the dark wood, since our bunk beds are dark. Both kids think the curtains on the upper bunk are very cool.
Kids room - This is cute, and I like the "real" (as opposed to "kids") furniture and accessories in the middle, where the kid friendly part is the colors and not something like firetrucks on the lamp. Both kids like the colors, Madeline particularly likes the lamp.
Kids room - The kids like beanbag chairs, and they both like the bright blue and green, though not the pink floral, and they're not big on the chevron pattern.
Kids room - The kids love these bright blue and green colors. And they like the furry light fixture (though our ceiling fixture is set).
Kids room - The kids would like one or two "fun" things like the light fixture and furry pillows. I'm thinking maybe a small furry chair by the door or in the corner by the closet, or George likes the sheepskin rug he saw in the Crate and Barrel catalog.
Kids room - Like the blue and brown in the bedding, and how this looks like a kids room, but is sophisticated. The kids would like something a little brighter.
Don't like the style of this room at all, but like the color accents with the ottomans and pillows.
Like the cushioned ottomans and the window treatments. We had these shades at our old house, Drew would like cell shades for insulation (windows aren't new). Like the straight hanging drapes. Don't like the slipcovered couches or giant coffee table.
Flagging chartreuse and orange again, which I don't think we want, but really like how the color accents are done here.
Cool little chair by the fireplace! That whole corner is kind of neat, we may end up with a space like that to furnish.
This space is more modern than what we picture for the condo, but like it. Like the lamps - I think these look like Crate and Barrel lamps I was looking at. Also like the light tan color of the ottomans under the console at left.
Would like more color, but this feels like a soothing space to be in. Maybe it's the wrap around windows and the nature outside, which we don't have in the condo, so perhaps not applicable.
Don't like this. It's really similar to a lot of spaces we do like - high contrast, different textures, etc. - and I don't know why I don't like it, so thought it might be helpful to flag. It feels like there's too much going on. Maybe it's the wood flooring, or the black chairs are too much black, or the light fixture and the wall art compete with each other. Not sure.
Like the chairs. The wood around the edges against the fabric creates a crisp and snappy look.
Don't like this. Everything blends together in a big wash of similar colors.
Like the colors and contrast. Don't want this much color on our walls, but like the actual color of the blue shelves - similar to the stone blue we're thinking of but this photo is a little darker than what I'm picturing, and really like the orange color too.
This looks about the size of our living room space, and was originally how we were picturing trying to set it up so we had a lot of open floor space in the middle - before the remodel, we liked to use the open floor space for exercise (me), playing games, kids wrestling, air mattress for extra people, etc. But in looking through design photos, it seems like these pieces are considered too far apart for good conversation? If not, we'd love to maintain this amount of open floor space in the living room so we can continue to spend time on the floor, on a comfortable rug.
Like the style of the furniture here. All the non-Rumor photos came up when I filtered for Living Rooms/Transitional style. We'd be happy with any of the chairs shown here, and generally happy with any of these pieces of furniture.
Kind of like what they've done with the fireplace and spaces next to it, although it feels too busy. We'll have a similar size/shape of stone on the fireplace, tv to the right, and deep spaces on both sides of the fireplace like this one.
The decorating style is more traditional than what we want the condo to look like, but I flagged this because the dining chairs pick up the colors in the living room and drapes. We'd like color accents of blue/green, gold, red, green, and a stony blue, not chartreuse.
Like all the different textures here, but don't feel they compete with each other. Also like the style of the furnishings and room - this photo came up when I filtered for "Transitional" style. The texture and style of the table is unique and different but doesn't call attention to itself over everything else. The furry ottomans are probably a little wild for Drew's taste, but I think the play of textures is neat, and the kids love these. They would LOVE something like that in the kids' room. Also, even though we generally go for warmer tones, I really like the color scheme in this room. Which again is fairly high contrast of the dark chairs against the light fireplace and floor.
Different designer popped up in the feed, and similar to other photos, we like the contrast of light, dark, and wood colors here, and like the contemporary but not too modern style.
Don't want this style. This is more ornate/frilly (that's the wrong word, but I don't know the right design terms) than what we'd like, and the fabrics are all very similar neutral colors and don't provide as much difference from one piece to the other. My eyes end up jumping around in this room to take it all in, as opposed to the other rooms I flagged where you can interpret the entire room in one view because the pieces contrast with each other more.
This one is too modern and spare for us.
Love this! This is similar to the color palette we're picturing for downstairs, though we'd prefer red to orange, and are picturing more of a light brown leather couch than the yellower color here. But love how the color is brought in through the wall art and throws, and like the contrast of different materials and textures in the fabric couch and leather ottoman in similar color tones.
All the photos of this condo are more rustic than our style, but we like the bright colors of the bedding and painting in this room, and it's really similar to what the kids' room in our condo could look like - though our kids prefer blue color tones to the yellow.
This looks similar to our master bath - same fixtures even - but our shower tile is lighter.
Flagging this one for the color and how the design chooses a couple of key things as the main visual element, and the rest of the design supports those elements, falling in place around them and not competing with them. We prefer a warmer color palette.
Really like the color accents here from the artwork, mirror, and pillows. We wouldn't want a blue couch, and prefer warmer tones to cooler/grayer ones, so flagging this one for the color accents.
Similar comments to other photos - love the play of light and dark contrasting, also love the mixture of traditional and modern furniture, and like the clean simple design where you can read the whole space at once, rather than having lots of things vying for your attention. The contrast of light and dark makes all of the pieces legible both individually and as a cohesive setting.
We'd like some more color accents, but again really like the play of light and dark together here, and feel this is very clean, simple, and elegant. It's a cohesive and legible space - your eye can take the whole space in at one time. There aren't a bunch of different things vying for your attention. The room is a little more formal than our style, particularly with the mirrors, which I wouldn't want.
Don't like this - too busy.
Really like the play of different textures in this photo - the texture on the stair wall against the stair wood and flooring. We tend to like a little more contrast in colors, perhaps a dark picture/mirror frame somewhere.
We like the fireplace stone, and the ceiling and beams are similar to our condo. We'd like more color in our interior than in this photo.
We looked at photos of this condo frequently while we were picking finishes for our remodel! We ended up with white trim instead of stain because of cost/ease, but we liked the light floors and brown cabinets and the lighting.
Like the contrast of dark and light and the clean, simple lines and organization. The wood is more rustic than our style, we prefer smoother wood grains.
Like the clean lines and the contrast of the dark and light colors. It draws your eye easily through the space, and all of the features of the space are legible.
We like the contrasts - dark headboard pops against the light walls and bedding. Like the color pops of red. Don't like the bedspread and skirt as much, they start to blend into the floor color, but like the other contrasts.
Dining - one of the only photos of a sideboard I could find, picturing a sideboard (Colleen) with lamps and a mirror like shown here, but in a different style, or maybe hutch (Drew).
