my DIY industrial kitchen in the works. freestanding midcentury cabinets that i found on craigslist for a steal (still need to strip and re-stain the drawer and door faces); maple butcher block countertop that i will stain natural and slather with shiny polyurethane (still need to cut and install the corner section and the 16" piece beside the stove); midcentury chandelier, also a craigslist find; corrugated metal walls; commercial sink; cast iron island legs from the workbench that was left in my old house; island top from a closed pizza place in chicago, which i stained for days until i got it right, then several coats of poly. one day (when i have the money), i'll get pane-less windows and a new floor. and i still need to figure out a plan to remedy parts of the ceiling where the bulkhead used to be (but the copper and brass plumbing pipes will remain exposed).
