Dark and light, floor, tile, bright natural light, cabinets. I think I like Shaker cabinets. Didn't know that term before looking at all of these photos.
I read an article here on Houzz that talked about how sometimes a penisula is better than I island. I'm totally open to peninsula if that's a better solution for our space. I like these drawers on the end of peninsula, seem like they might be easier access than drawer/cabinets that are behind seating (like we have now in the 'grand piano' part of the island)
tile, pendants, cabinets it's a little 'cool,' but I still like it...especially if warmed up just a little.
layout? I like the idea of the separate 'beverage station' like in one of the example concept drawings Rebecca showed me.

yep, ok, I think I like butcher block if it's darker this this. but durability??
I like the look of this wooden countertop, too....so maybe I just don't like the 1980's 'butcher block' that I picture when I hear 'butcher block?' Or maybe this is something different? I love walnut....but it doesn't seem like a durable countertop choice, does it??
I HATE our lower spinning cabinet thing. It gets filthy back there, and I can't reach into it to clean it out. Things fall off the rack and are lost forever, too, because I can't reach them. This might be a better solution? Or something else, but I don't like the spinner.

Light above banquette, banquette, natural light! One concern or thought about banquettes....Scott and I are both larger people...wouldn't want it to be functionally hard to use/uncomfortable.
