ALCOVA architecture A steel staircase like this require preliminary design (duh), engineering, shop drawings and execution. The execution (here in Seattle) was by Gagnon welding, i'd put it at about $12~13k. That excludes the threads, provided separately at the time of flooring. Architectural and engineering fees were embedded in the rest of the design process (new construction will give you that advantage), but I'd rate the whole thing at about $1k.
