Cabinet hardware is the finishing touch on any cabinetry project. Aristokraft Winstead cabinets are accented with an Aristokraft H314 pull and an H316 knob.

Cabinets can be retrofitted to house custom pullout containers, but if you’re looking for an easy solution, check out popular retailers like The Container Store or Ikea for a variety of bins that will work to fit your existing space.

Stack baking sheets and cutting boards vertically in deep drawers (if you have them) or narrow cabinets for easier access. Dividers will keep them upright. Don’t forget to define separate cutting boards for produce, meats and breads.

Designer Susan Klimala felt that creating some visual contrast in this nearly all-white kitchen in suburban Chicago was key. “White inset cabinets, quartzite countertops, subway tile and nickel accents provide a traditional feel. The gray island is a needed contrast to the dark wood flooring,” Klimala writes.

Storage and appliances take up the bulk of space in kitchens. Too much of either and things start to feel crowded. That’s why a walk-in pantry is one of the most coveted amenities when it comes to kitchen design. Here, the homeowners even found room for the microwave, freeing up space and visual design in the main area.

It’s hard to believe a photo of a range could be so compelling, but this one with its herringbone-patterned marble backsplash and accent board above has garnered thousands of fans. Going a bit deeper, this project is a great example of function hidden behind style. The elegant finishes and cabinet details distract you from the fact that there are two large drawers beneath the cooktop for pots and pans, a pot filler and two narrow spice rack pullouts flanking the hood.
