Like the color of this wood. Like the bench seating. Like the fact that the "wall" only goes up halfway so there is an open area. Maybe this coudl work, with pillars going up at the corners to support the shade structure?

What about building a bench seat (booth) area on the A/C side and then building a little stone planter like this to anchor it?
