Make your shelves and cupboards easier on the eyes and cut down on cleanup time by packing away everything but your most frequently used dishes, glassware and cooking tools. 11. Put up open shelving or remove cupboard doors. Give your kitchen a breezy feel by doing away with cupboard doors or swapping out upper cabinets for open shelving. You will be amazed at how much bigger your kitchen will feel.

upper cabinet storage; glass doors .I typically like pendant lights as well as can lights to be 3-4' apart. The height of the pendants will depend on the height of the ceiling and the size of the pendant. I usually like the pendants about 24" above eye level, this is my preference. I find fixtures hung too low a bit distracting.

pocket doors for pantry! These pocketed doors use hardware called "flipper door" slides/hinges. It's important to find ones that are rated for the size and weight of the doors. They are available through specialty hardware suppliers such as Rockler.com, Accuride.com, Hafele, Knape & Vogt, etc. January 18, 2013
