Sorry this isn’t a great photo (trying to decide if I want a round table which is why there is a tabletop on top of a table :)) but maybe this will be helpful. The gap does bug me from an esthetic standpoint (less so with the dog food bin there than when it was empty), but without the extended counter we would lose a lot of precious counter space. Your kitchen looks similar in size to ours, and in a small space my personal vote is for practicality over looks. But honestly I’m sure you’ll love it either way!
