Under stair cave/reading nook for the kids? Harry Potter room? ((This works when they're little, but not so much as they get older, I think. Also, my guess is that this space is going to be eaten up with some kind of utility - electric/heat/water.

Dark wood for the faux wood support beam looks nice.(Agreed - I like the way the beam comes together with the supports))

((Cute, but limited lifetime of use))

Was thinking of putting a TV mount on the stair wall like this, with some storage underneath for toys/kid stuff. ((When we talked, we discussed putting the TV on the wall 90 degrees to the left. On the stair wall =/= a good idea due to the movement of the stairs.))

A simple bench/storage for near the door/entry would be good, quasi mudroom but not taking up much space. ((No - I don't want to use up more floorspace))

Not sure about the exact window style and don't like the weathered look, but window frames above the half wall could look interesting? ((Eh.))

Glass walls with curtains inside to separate the "bedroom"? Not sure full glass in the basement w/ kids bopping around is a good idea though. ((Nick suggested half-wall on the part of the wall facing into the room bc we can use the wall to assist w the placement for the couch/counter/builtin))

Simpler idea for some privacy in the "bedroom" could be a curtain on a rod above the half-wall. ((no.))

Not sure how complicated/expensive the wall design (wood structure?) is, but would be a nice way to texture a wall to do an accent wall or break up the monotony of the giant wall space. ((I don't want to spend more $$ than we have to - let's keep this project to things that have utility.))

Sliding glass panel divider for room separation. ((These types of panels look very clinical to me))

Translucent sliding doors to separate bedroom/office space? ((Don't you remember discussing half-walls andshutters? You and Nick talkedabout shutters. I had no idea what you were talking about.))

The flooring looks similar to our planks, I like the simple white with the designed wallpaper. Maybe just wallpaper as an accent wall rather than the entire room, though. ((No.))

Built-in storage between the half-wall separating middle support beam and wall.

Interesting idea to do a built-in desk incorporating the support pillars.
