13. Positive & Negative Space: There is both positive and negative space in this photo. From the bed and nightstand to the desk is a negative space because it is an empty walkway. And some positive space is the bed and nightstand because they're right next to each other. Also the desk is a positive space because it is decorated along with the wall art on the wall. Positive space gives people the feeling that it is beautiful and peaceful. While negative space makes people feel loneliness, solitude, relaxation, and contemplation.
14. Two Types Of Line: There is a horizontal and a vertical line in this photo. The counter top aka the sink is a horizontal line which gives the illusion of width which can evoke the feelings of rest and calmness. The mirror is a vertical line which gives the illusion of height which can evoke the feelings of strength and action.
15. Three Elements Of Design: The area with the coffee table in the middle is an illusion of space they are trying to make the space look smaller. The window seen on the left side of the image is an illusion of texture because it looks like if you would run a finger or hand across it it would feel rough on the black surrounding the glass panels and smooth on the glass panels. The coffee table is wider than it is tall making it a horizontal line. All these make this room give feelings of restfulness, and calmness.
1. Small Space Made to Look Larger: The room is filled with open shelves and an open area underneath the chair seen in the photo. It gives the illusion of a bigger space which can evoke the feeling of freedom and luxury.
