Living Room
No, no, no. What do I hate about it? the lack of symmetry (cabinets on one side; AC vents on the other); loft too close to underlying living area; two story white walls and stone chimney have no cohesion, blend, or warmth; coffered ceiling is industrial and not warm; and what's with the fan and loft railing dominating the ceiling view??? Blech! On the other hand, our chimney is going to be off-center, since we pushed the great room out towards the lake. What I am concerned about is the big area of space that will be framed by the chimney on the right, the French door header on the bottom, the loft railing on the left, and the ceiling up top. It's a big empty space that needs something to break things up, but it has to blend with the materials.

Like the layout of a hearth room off kitchen; not sure I like D.R. between the two. Or make the DR area a breakfast area with round table and DR elsewhere.

Wonder if we could use the existing fireplace from current house? This is a bit fancy, but like the layout, the windows and the shelving units. TV could go over fireplace? Perhaps could put same windows front and back side of the room , make it less dressy (Lynn)

Like vaulted ceiling but maybe tongue & groove wood ceiling like in NC or GA at Mom's? Prefer triangle shape windows vs the 3 small windows on either side of fireplace, or sheet rock, cabinetry, or shelving either side of FP for storage, or wall space? (Lynn)
Would be nice to have bar area in basement or family room or off family room? This tile could be similar for the Navarro Kitchen. (Lynn)

Like the openness and wood and white tones, but furnishings are too modern. (PWV) Like this layout if we could put a little more room between dining room and kitchen, and looks like 2 islands, so kitchen may be straight line, which not sure I like that part. Like family room idea and open floor plan. Not crazy about wood beam? LVM
Don't need crazy ceiling tres, but windows and openness are nice. Would like to incorporate stone and wood into fireplace, but Northwoods-appropriate materials.

This is a comfy room, if it needs to be a bit larger for the number of people likely to be using the house. (PWV) Not bad, like FPlace. A little too much wood since all over window frames and on ship lap type wall and in built in cabinets. Maybe do a bar area and put TV on FPlace LVM
Nice openness, warmth, and windows. Large stone fireplace is a bit much, and I prefer the dining room not to be the transition between the dining room and living room. (PWV) I like the family room concept. Dont care for the dining room betw kitchen and family room. Like windows altho might just do solid window without the wood bars over windows. Not sure about the wood around door opening, dont care for the wood over dining room. Maybe wood around door opening would be ok if ceiling wood wasnt there over dining table?? LVM

Open, warm, and large windows. Dutch colonial doesn't lend itself to floor-to-window windows, however. Need picture frame windows. (PWV) Like the windows and height of ceiling. Picture windows is fine. A little too much wood used here on the sheetrock that overpowers the room, but like the concept and think its pretty. LVM
A little too modern (but not too bad), but I like the materials, natural light, and shelving next to the fireplace (breaking up the space). If we can warm the ceiling (read: use of wood), it should help avoid too much white.
