Could be something as simple/modern as this to tie in with ADU design?
Ceiling treatment
Mix of materials
Ironwork above
Unusual railing treatment. Vaguely French?
Not round, but possibly wood above rather than metal?
First floor porch supports
D likes little lamps, colors
Feels welcoming. Like two-tone tile in shower a lot
Cool shower door
This wall is super cool mp: Easily achievable with Stikwood. I just did an installation of this in two kids rooms and it came out phenomenally well.
Crazy fun ceiling
Love lots of this, including color blue
Margo loves it
Cool line
cool whitewash for ceiling of family room
Really cool style here.
Nice inspiration for the master bedroom
Noice
too much gold but also a nice overall feel.
nice tile. good color tone. (except brown cabinets which are not our jam)
it's french country. of course I like it.
cool idea for the wall in the hall bathroom
not our space, but a nice overall color tone. feels very relaxing to me.
like these tiles too. also nice drawer pulls.
I actually really like this blue with the tile.
don't like the gold, but the rest is really nice.
Nice tile work in the back.
Like the tile and the blue for the cabinets. Don't think we want blue cabinets above the counter line.
I like the stepped back nature of the two volumes that would be peeking out above your current roofline. Agree - ik
Materials changing color/texture as it rises, keeps house feeling period and in scale. Using fibercrete cladding products will reduce upkeep. Not sure how I feel about color change. This feels too abrupt but maybe it doesn't always...? - ik
Another view.
Continuing the hip roof would make the addition feel more boxy potentially, but the rooflines might be more harmonious. Your addition doesn't fully cover the back so it wouldn't be quite so complete.
An unusual way of stepping back rooflines--doing a shed roof on the atrium/daniel's office before transitioning to the bedroom/crows nest? (not as much glass in the atrium) Cool - ik
Closest match yet to how your might look (without building over the garage).
Not sure why they would put the a/c in the front yard but this has a front roofline that matches yours and is why I am not sure that a second hip roof would benefit your home. I think changing the direction and slope of the rear addition would keep it from feeling boxy (like this) and less klugey. Plus the atrium/daniel's office will be a smaller volume as an intermediary between the main house and the new addition. I hear you - ik
Stepped back rooflines blending with sloped roof
set back further, but traditional materials on upper floor, high pitch to roof may be too stark to blend?
