HB Modern Cabin/Homestead
2-story shed roof; deep overhang better to deflect rain on tall side, exposed rafter detail looks good; fixed upper square windows paired with small awning windows below may be cost effective option; like balcony but probably avoid due to $/durability; how do you engineer deeper overhangs in hurricane zones?
kitchen of my dreams; large with ample counter & circulation space, but not necessarily fancy; plentiful spectator seating; uncluttered; looks like it can be replicated with stock/RTA cabinets; avoiding a lot of upper cabinets looks cleaner, like how cabinet top lines up with window (hate when upper cabinets & ceiling have awkward inconsistent distances); want window above kitchen sink & like that seating also faces window; love exposed ceiling framing & tension cords; really like incognito cost-effective backplash; like wall clad with beadboard in more contemporary/minimalist way... is this a reasonable upgrade to drywall?
almost kitchen of my dreams; large kitchen nicely combines "cabin" feel with modern features; lots of circulation; uncluttered by top cabinets; like wood countertop on sleek wood cabinets; only thing missing is stool seating; the large quantity of windows draws eye out, making a 8-9 foot flat ceilinged room seem incredibly spacious
I don't know what room this is supposed to be, but love how this exudes modern + cabin; just a note... I like all those Olson Kundig modern cabins for their unique simplicity & mobility, but they're too intimidating, cold, & don't look like they're made for people to actually live in... want warmth & comfort... a Winkelman modern cabin
shadows, long site lines, sense of exploration; repetitive geometries; can the house be designed to tell us the time of year and day via light & shadow? would also be cool if we could hear when the wind went offshore (NW) or was optimal time for walking West Landing (SW)... would also let you know which windows to open
this bedroom looks like a sanctuary; wouldn't mind a low ceiling over the bed; would be lovely to be flooded with morning sun, but prioritize windows in public spaces; don't typically like plywood walls, but this looks nice; note my mom's eyes can't handle glare & she wants a bit more privacy in her room; I would do sun salutations here
S facing shed roof, W entrance may work for site; Covered entry good; roof would direct rain, snowmelt away from outdoor spaces; shed roof straight forward path to variable ceiling heights?
