Reno - Paint colour
Here you can see Balboa Mist in our playroom (dining room turned playroom) in late afternoon Southern light. It is a still considered a warm light gray paint color even though it does have blue in it. It pairs really well with Benjamin Moore’s Simply White, which we used for the wainscoting and all the trim in the house.
upper right Benjamin Moore Gray Wisp 1570 (it is v green in other pics so can be used as a reference.) Gray Wisp is on the border of ‘colour and neutral’ when in it comes to an east facing room. In the morning the green/blue of it will be soft and soothing. In the afternoon the gray in it will come up a bit more, but can be shifted with the right interior lighting plan.
More about Classic Gray This is an off-white. You can darken it by 25% if you want a bit more contrast with your white trim (which is what I did in the above bathroom) Classic Gray is a warm gray, but it doesn’t have enough beige/warmth in it to be a greige It has an LRV of 74, so it’s pretty darned light!
White Dove walls, Oxford White trim Oxford White is definitely a white. And while it has a weee willy wink of gray in it, it’s so fractional it is hard to tell. Oxford White will act like white. Pick it: If you want to keep things simple and want a relatively straight-forward white – not cold, not warm, just white Ditch it: If you like a slightly softer approach Instead: Check out Cloud White or Simply White

Benjamin Moore White Dove OC 17 LRV 85.38 / Undertones: Creamy greige / Temperature: Slightly warm White Dove accommodates a lot of different paint colours because while it is a warm white, it has an almost greige base that calms it right down. This way it doesn’t come off as creamy/warm as Cloud White, but also isn’t as stark/cool as Chantilly Lace. White Dove is a soft white, so it won’t act like white, but just a VERY slightly softer version of it. Pick it: If you want a versatile white trim/door/ceiling colour that will accommodate a lot of cool and warm-toned paint colours throughout your home. If you want a warm, but not too yellow wall colour Ditch it: If you prefer a more clean, crisp look Instead: Check out Simply White or Decorators White

The Back Wall of a Hallway Sure, it won’t brighten the hallway, but it WILL add personality and depth!
Balboa Mist is a slightly warm gray/greige with a warm purple undertone. While it is warmer and more feminine than Classic Gray, it’s undertone is soft and dusky, at times picking up a faint purple/beige hint (nothing OVERLY dominant though – super passive).

It provides a lovely soft highlight to decorative trim in traditional settings, and is cool enough to provide a modern edge to more contemporary interiors." SILVER CHAIN #BM1472, BENJAMIN MOORE American Artist/Benjamin Moore "It is soft and works well in both traditional and modern rooms. I recently used it on the cabinetry of a townhouse kitchen with countertops in super white quartzite

Dunn Edwards 6336 Stargazing. From designer "Sorry for the delay in response but I did not have BM paint fan. I got one and the closest I can tell would be "soot" 2129-20. Good luck!" From readers "The three closest Benjamin Moore colors are Black Horizon, Abyss and Graphite" I would suggest BM Racoon Fur (2126-20) or Anchor Gray (BM 2126-30) if you're looking for more of a dark blue/black. I know on my computer this colour looks like it has some blue in it. Just a suggestion.
Looks cheap - why
1. Pick the right room. Darker colors immediately make a room feel more intimate and cozy. For some rooms, such as a parlor, bedroom or large living space, this is the desired effect. The deep charcoal gray on these walls set the mood for a perfect gathering spot for an evening with friends around the piano, or having cocktails and great conversations.

Dining rooms are good rooms for dark colors. Think intimate dinner parties and candlelight.

"Mix up proportions. Here, the designers have used color to change the visual proportions of the room and cleverly zone the desk area under the shutters. They’ve also used two colors on the chimney surround to give the illusion of a fireplace — perfect for a minimalist look."
