Should My Window Trim Match — or Contrast With — the Sash?

Q

Photo

Look at how they did their cast stone.

Q

Photo

Just like we are considering: Sash and trim match, soffit and trim do not and it works well!

Maybe around the tiny windows we do a flat plane of the cast stone…

Q

Doing the columns like this makes sense

Too thick in comparison to the brick

Q

Good

Q

Good edges

Q

Photo

Like the longer segments w/o breaks, but would like them to be the whole ledge if we could w/o breaks

Q

Photo

This is almost exactly what we want I think

Q

Photo

Too thick and too squared off, but we do want a topper like this on our brick wall

Q

Photo

Cast stone about this size, but rounded corners, more like other houzz pic

Like the cement ledge under the windows, looking at this makes me think we might want to do the lighter color of paint on the smooth siding and the darker color of paint on the horizontal siding

Q

Photo

Make sure we have concrete in front of our columns that allows planter in front..

Q

Photo

I think we will try to do a light gray/white color that matches the mortar between the bricks for the horizontal siding. For the smooth siding and soffits a darker color that matches the brick. For the top of the half wall a cement topper that matches the color of the siding and the mortar between the bricks. Garage doors same color as the horizontal siding

Q

Photo

Silver sconces, silver door hardware and silver house numbers?

Q

Photo

I like how they made the topper for the wall match the top or between the brick and the siding.

Q

Photo

Dark sconces look good

If mortar was white, this would be better

Q

Photo

We definitely need to go lighter with siding or will look too dark like this

Q

Photo

If we do too much dark, run the risk of looking like this

Bowral Blue from Austral Bricks.

Q

Dark brick, white mortar, looks good with dark and light siding, but think I would like it better with either light or dark, but not both at the same time

Q

Light mortar, dark brick

Q

Light mortar with darker brick looks good

Q

I like this elevation best. What are outside to look more like this.

Q

Like the white topper on wall & btwn siding and brick

Q

Nice, classic looking house and colors that will never look dated. This is what we would like to achieve.

This is my favorite. Love the modern, but not too modern look. Only thing I would change is we want more porch and different colors.

Nice effect on side of house.

Like the colors and the wood ceiling and the planter. Don't like the pavers, they would be a trip and fall hazard.
