White appliances work well with warm wood, especially if going for a vintage vibe, however, stainless if fine too. After seeing your living room on another post, I would probably do a cream on the walls and white trim. If you like deeper colors, a sage green - and those come in tones from dark to light. I almost posted this pic on your living room post - these colors will work with the warm wood ceilings and warm toned flooring.

I think it depends how comfortable you are with your planned seating arrangement. My living room could be arranged several ways, but I have a strong preference for one way. Several arrangements would still create outlet needs in the same spot. Our furniture will float in the room, so extension cords aren't realistic. I also plan to charge computers/phones at these spots, not just for lighting. Maybe this photo is a solution for you? Would hide better if furniture gets relocated?
