It’s the personal touches that make a house a home, and nothing does that job quite as well as photos. If you have a large collection of family pictures, travel snaps, wildlife images, still photography, art prints or others that you absolutely love – show them off proudly. That leads to the question – what are the different ways to decorate walls with photos? Here are some of the best ideas.
2. Hang them on wires

Tip: If you like DIY solutions, consider stretching strings or thin ropes across the wall and hanging pictures on them using simple wooden clips. You could colour the clips to match the decor of the room.
3. Display along the passageway…
Hallways and entryways lend themselves very well to being decorated with photos. Long stretches of walls are gallery-like – use the entire length to decorate the walls with family photos, decoration stickers, posters, and other art.

4. …Or along the staircase
You can choose to make images pop by printing them on a foam photo board, which makes them look clear and sharp, as in this image.
Tip: You can create your own foam board pictures right at home. Print out the picture on photo paper and make sure you cut it the exact size of the foam board. To mount a print, place it face down on a clean surface. Apply an adhesive all along the edges, and a small strip right in the centre of the print. Flip the print and paste it on top of a piece of foam core. Use a soft cloth to press down in the middle of the print. Now flip the board over and keep it in this position for a few minutes, to ensure that the print is well and truly stuck.

6. Try miniatures…
Many of us have tons of printed 4x6-inch or 6x8-inch photos or polaroids from times gone by. Don’t keep them hidden in albums anymore. Arrange and stick them in shapes (like a heart or typography) and frame.

7. …Or supersize them
Pictures or artworks that capture a beautiful emotion, frame a mood very well, or are just photographed brilliantly could be supersized and displayed as wall decoration. Ideal spaces for hanging such frames are living rooms, passageways or staircase landings.
Tip: If you want to highlight your collection of pictures but cannot supersize them due to their low resolution, simply choose a large frame for them. The borders around the images (as seen in this picture) will give them a decorative touch and will make a guaranteed impact.

The contrast of hues in this room is quite striking and the accent wall painted dark grey offers itself as a canvas for displaying pictures or art. You could decorate your wall with photos in a crisp and a neat arrangement like this – the photographs are eye-catching against the charcoal-grey wall, and the bright-blue sofa adds to the colour layering.
Tip: Try experimenting with differently sized photo frames. Mix it up – place an 11x14-inch frame next to a 16x20-inch one and add another that’s 20x24 inches. In terms of images, mix some horizontal pictures with vertical ones.
