Hi David! Thanks for your question. It doesn't hurt Eaglestons to be planted closer together but most customers plant the for privacy screening with spacing between 6-8' trunk to trunk. Most with 30 gallons space them closer to 6'-7' trunk to trunk. For the 65 gallons, most customers go with the 7-8' trunk to trunk spacing. I have a row of 9 in my personal backyard and miney are 7.5' trunk to trunk and after having them planted for a couple years I am still really happy with that spacing.
