See how colourful stained glass designs can give your home decor the feel of a movie set
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movies are visually exquisite and breathtaking. A prominent feature in his sets is the use of coloured glass – Paro’s room in Devdas is an extravagant example of his use of stained glass. While we may not have the luxury to create a room as embellished as that, here are a few tips on how and where stained glass can be (modestly) used to bring a touch of Bollywood glamour into our homes.
In this image, the windows are left bare to maximise the inflow of natural light. Only the transom window is done up in stained glass. Do the dominant hues of blue take you back to Bhansali’s Saawariya, too?
Tip: Recreate the effect of stained glass, using using a range of printed and embossed films on plain windows and doors.

Inspired by the Gothic and Renaissance periods, these gorgeous floral-patterned doors seem to bring all the colours of the garden inside.

The row of pendants hung above the bar act as task lighting and also bring a sense of playfulness to the space. These here have a minimal drop, keeping the lamps high enough to create the illusion of height in a room with a low ceiling.
