Country
Wider spaces, larger bedrooms, pops of color and lots of curios give an edge to this home
The client purchased two side-by-side flats and wanted us to seamlessly integrate the two into one residence and also create a home that followed a design story close to their hearts: a European country house. We had to make several structural changes to this home. We changed the flooring, moved the kitchen around and redid the bathrooms. This home was originally a five-bedroom home which we converted into a three-bedroom house, plus two extra rooms that serve as a walk-in-closet and a home office
The entrance door with wrought iron grilles has dainty paneling work around it. The plasterwork suggests an arched doorway, complete with a prominent keystone at the top, which gives the arch design an authentic feel. Most country homes have detailing around the door. We added vintage outdoor lights here to give the entrance a European feel
The living room is in egg white, where plenty of intriguing elements, curios, lighting pieces and seaters make it feel like home.
A reproduction of Van Gogh’s ‘Café Terrace at Night’, which the client already possessed, hangs on the passage wall. At the studio we love the color white, so we try to incorporate it everywhere.
