What room is your home missing most?

Most regular houses could do with an extra room - but the kind of room is probably a point of much debate. Which kind of room would you add immediately if you could.

A large entertaining area that leads outside (I live in an apartment so this is the dream).

A library for me, with real books. Wall to wall mahogany shelves and a rolling ladder to reach the high ones. Let's put a desk and chair in there, and a chaise to recline and relax on while I read, and I'll be all set. Oh, mustn't forget floor to ceiling windows to gaze out at flowering trees while I ponder a thought from my book or take a nap.

It's structurally not possible for my house, but I would love an old fashioned attic or basement - a place for indoor storage so "stuff" could be stored out of sight and not mildew.

    Mud room!

A "decent" sized mudroom. For a large house, the mudroom is 8 x 5 and it contains a washer - dryer and three doors that open into it. Poor design.

A sun room. In the winter time can be used to get some solar energy (probaly go with a hydronic system) and a greenhouse to start seedlings

For resale, we could use a master bathroom. For our family's actual needs, we'd love a mudroom. But in a historic house with no room to expand, we aren't going to get either.

I'm torn between wanting a room to store all my craft items for knitting, beading and papercraft and wanting a large conservatory to sit in, drinking coffee and reading.

I would loooovvvveee as studio where I could work. Somewhere that I can create ....and if I make a mess...that is fine...I can close the door if I haven't finished or...tidy up when I am. I don't have to rush and put everything away because you are going to have a visitor...I like my home to be neat and tidy but...sometimes it is a pain to have to put things away especially when you are in the middle of something.

You can have an extra room and call it whatever you like and a utility room is a good one as it is utilized for everything...so it is not just one room as such...bedroom for visitors, ironing room, study, play room... I think utility room covers it...but Studio...that is another story...lol you know that is the creative area. It also lets you be more creative I think with more space to work.....

Sometimes we don't need an extra room but we need to use what we have a little better or rather than an extra room...make the ones we have bigger when we build in the first place.

So agree with you Wild infusion so want my mess room that is MINE . I have a carport so I can't even work in there, store my precious junk BUT there is a area beside the carport and the back fence which in time I will use that space by building two rooms one to store my dad's tool he gave me before he passed away. The other to be my mess room small but somewhere my brushes and junk can be in peace. No phone nor front door bell to be heard.

A butlers pantry where I would have a bench for all my kitchen gadgets, and shelves for all my bakeware. I would also like to have a larger closet for my clothes which are currently spread over closets in the other bedrooms

I live in a small townhouse and a rooftop terrace would be fantastic. Somewhere to relax, soak up the sun and grow an edible garden.

I'm taking my bed out of my double bedroom to change into a library, otherwise I would say library. But, for me, it's down to basics: I need a kitchen and laundry! My house was a holiday cottage and to call the kitchen corner a kitchen is a far cry from the reality. I can't even stretch my arms out yet I have to cram my washing machine in there, too. Help!
