modern look to antique furniture
Comments (15)The Green Antiques Idea book "Decorating with Chinese Antiques - Design the Ultimate Beach House" has some creative ideas about how to achieve a fabulous East meets West design which gels modern design with the inclusion of numerous antiques (some even painted bright colors as suggested by Blawnox Upholstery above!). http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/29094412/list/Decorating-with-Chinese-Antiques---Design-the-Ultimate-Beach-House This might not be the style which you are seeking, but similar mix and match old and new concepts can also be applied to many other style homes - see for example photo's from the Dream House project (a 7,000 sq.ft. Frank Lloyd Wright inspired prairie house which from the outside looks much like the world famous Robbie house). Completely different from the beach house example above, but nevertheless merging the old and the new in interesting ways. http://www.houzz.com/projects/594005...See MoreDining room lighting !!!
Comments (2)Two matching mini-chandeliers could work, but you have a vent and other holes in the ceiling and would have to work around them. If you can enclose a couple of the holes, you could place each small chandelier an equal distance from the center of the ceiling as it corresponds to the center of the table. I would suggest a large, square framed mirror over the fireplace and a large tapestry or other form of wall art on the back wall. By having two chandeliers, the wall art could be seen between them instead of being blocked by a single light fixture. There is a lot of plain space, and white-painted bead board wainscoting could break up the large, plain space and bring a different texture and color to the room. A solid-color area rug inspired by a color in the wall art or tapestry could help tie the color scheme together....See MoreWhere to place art on the wall, size & type for living and dining
Comments (5)You don't necessarily need only paintings as artwork. You can put some floating shelves near the dining space with some good crockery like plates or tea sets which can be used for occasions as well. On the wall in the living space you could keep either traditional or modern show pieces....See MoreNeed ideas for replacing the partition.
Comments (13)You're Welcome Mr. Patel :) Yes there are some plants that are better suited to indoor environment here's a guide for the same: but no plant can survive indoors indefinitely. you will need to to keep rotating them weekly or every 2 weeks. are you partial towards glass then sure it can be used. maybe paneled glass partition or a stained one like you mentioned earlier like these: The room does seem a little cluttered, which maybe because of the many different styles and no of things too. I think that can be helped by lightening the space a little and maybe bringing in a bit similarity specially the side tables and coffee tables . i have suggested the sofa upholstery color in the previous comment. shades of sage in velvet. if not then light beige in linen is also a good option. Something like in this picture https://www.houzz.in/photos/architectural-digest-india-march-april-2016-farm-house-in-delhi-phvw-vp~70030021 https://www.houzz.in/photos/vila-by-the-sea-phvw-vp~55949655 https://www.houzz.in/photos/aptes-bona-fide-expressions-phvw-vp~112062304 https://www.houzz.in/photos/sex-and-the-city-phvw-vp~94528292 https://www.houzz.in/photos/brentwood-transitional-home-phvw-vp~99412992 some bright colored cushions and an accent piece of sofa or some bright table cloth might also be good. as for curtains that will depend on the sofa upholstery you use. If you keep the same upholstery i think a nice pastel color would look better. something light. you should also choose light cushions and carpet for these sofas. and if you keep the same sofas i think you should atleast change some of the tables. I would also suggest bringing in a little more light to the room if possible. I hope this helped you. :) Best of Luck, Purva Saksena...See Morefreedomplace1
