There is contrast between the traditional furniture and the focal point of the floor which pops, draws attention. I would recover the sofas in cream colored soft fabric - suede. I would leave the curtains grey, and put down a large neutral area rug. The edges of the room would show the pattern of the floor. I would color the wall and add texture to it, but not too dark as the room will appear smaller. Add a picture and put a nice plant holder, large vase in the left corner of the room - an oriental-style vase. Or, a cream-stripe fabric on the sofas. You could go soft or bold in this room - depending on your taste.

Good idea, Curt. Bright blue or green paint or lilac paint , hooks at little person eye level, low shelves for picture book display. Don't use alot of red or orange paint on walls, it hyper stimulates kids. A fun or educational mural would be great.

If you want to highlight the staircase wall then your could use earthy colours such as a yellow ochre! The wall could be enhanced even more by using suitable frames and making a good collage composition for all the photos that you have (I can see many lying on the dining table). This colour would match well with wooden furnitures

Hello. The space and the furniture looks great and that’s one of the positives of your house. 1. Coming to the a living room, the sofa color is already bold, so u may use a neutral tone of Grey on the wall behind sofa and the adjacent wall that has a curtain (Place a plant between these two, hang a lamp from ceiling, also use a painting as shown in thr picture behind the sofa). 2. And the wall behind the dining table (with a single chair), paint rose gold. Note : Make sure the any artefacts are complimenting the furniture and wall Color. U may refer the platte.
