Design Dilemma Lighting Living Room

How should I design the lighting in my low ceiling living room?

Hello,

My home living room has very low ceiling and beamed..it is old house and the previous owner renovated it in this way. Because it’s low ceiling and beamed, there is no place for the chandlier and no lighting on the ceiling. The ceiling is basically the floor of the second floor so installing some kind of cap light isn’t an option either. Currently, we are using multiple floor lamps hooked up to the wall outlets that can be contorlled by the light switch. Could you please recommend what lighting option do we have? The ceiling height is 8’ 11” and the length of the each beam is about 7’11”. we would love to have some light from the ceiling.

Are those beams (or the trim that appears to be affixed to the undersides) hollow? If so, you could run wires through them for recessed lights.

Small track lighting to the sides of the beams or cable lighting strung wall to all between the beams.

How high is your ceiling if only 8' I would not put in false ceiling. This is a small space for all you want in it so I would keep it very simple.These pics are form a LR and DR in a 11' x25' space and we had 9 1/2 ' ceilings so we put in crown molding but that was all. In your case i would put the T.V where we had an empty fireplace space.

This is in context to my Living Room for apt. which is technically one single large hall , But within this same space , we are looking to create three seperate spaces , i;e Main Living room , Dining Room & family living room. Is it advisable for me to go for elevated areas ,for each of the spaces. If yes , then I would like to go in the ascending order as stated , or maybe I should go for a single elevated area, which practically seperates the Main living from the other two. Also to note , that since its an apt. the ceiling height is not much. All the help appreciated!!
