How to paint inside exposed cabinets

We’ve hired a contractor to redo backsplash, swap out hardware and paint our dated cabinets white. The issue is our exposed cabinets. The contractor insists that paint won’t stick to the inner cabinet and shelves but I can‘t imagine keeping them as is when you can see them. What’s the solution??

They probably are not wood. They may look like wood but are a laminate instead. They CAN be painted if proper products are used. Keep in mind they might not hold up as well as the outside.

Maybe a peel and stick wallpaper would work. So many pretty ones out there.

If you love that wallpaper, use it in bathroom. Not really right for behind bed. I would go a drum style chandelier. In a silk pale gold. Your bed looks zen or Asian to me. I love it. But, you don't. Need to much with it. Keep it simple a more formal drape on windows, color would depend on wall color and bedding. I'm thinking a dramatic peacock satin. Use a lighter same tone on walls a rich teal. Ceiling can be gold leaf. With alight that cast shadows on ceiling at night. Then your wall paper will tie in. Furn should be mirrored.

First of all, I don't think that furniture is comfortable enough to sit and watch TV, so the TV should be remove from that room, the purple wall paper and the purple furniture is too much, you should consider another color for that wall and the furniture against the wall it doesn't look good. What is that room at the end is kind of dark and I cannot appreciate exactly what is the purpose of that room. I'm a firm believer in skylights, we have skylights in the laundry room, kitchen, living room and office, they make a big difference. (if you cannot have skylights (or tube lights) can lights are a great option. There are a lot of great ideas from everyone. I can't wait to see the after photos.

I think this piece is quite lovely. It appears that your couch and chairs have dark wood so I would be tempted to stain or paint the buffet to match these items. Changing the large modern handles to smaller antique ones might help to make it less bulky looking and tie in with the other items in your room.. I like the idea of putting a mirror in the upper door, however much as I like the criss cross effect in the sample pictures, adding more detail may conflict with the curves in your sofa and chairs. You could look for a decorative detail that has more subtle style. As for placement, it might go on the short wall where you have a bench or even on the wall where you have your table with two chairs, one on each side to balance the look.

Of course that can be painted and adhere! No big deal at all. With the right processes and products, anything can be painted. You just need the right contractor. Hire an actual kitchen cabinet refinisher, not a master of none handyman. Join the Kitchen Cabinet Painting Experts on FB. There are step by step instructions there. From experts. That would have zero issues.

Of course you can paint melamine ther eis a paint for it , takes a bit of prep but doable DIY I certainly would not hire a cabinet refinisher for this job . Or the simple way is to use wall paper or even mac- tac if you are good at applying it.

On melamine cabinet, we have found great success with wallpaper (either solid color or patterned). If you prep them well the paint will hold for a while...but you have to be sure they are prepping the cabinets correctly and that painter has done it before.

FYI natural wood is a hot trend in kitchens right now and will probably continue to increase in comeback strength for a while. Your cabinetry doesn't appear dated from the picture you posted. Please make sure you are selecting this change based on something other than trends.
