Comments (3)I agree with painting. I think sticking to a ready mix color in a quality paint like Benjamin Moore or Dunn Edwards is helpful- washability is key here, and more often than you'd think it's possible to wash away the issue. Also, it's important that the wood is poplar or better, and the interior of the cabinets is prefinished plywood. Painting the interior of cabinets is time consuming and expensive. The prefinished ply will eliminate that issue. Perhaps birch. Not melamine or similar because if it chips or bubbles tenants hate it and there's no great way to correct the problem. I also highly recommend spending decent $ on door hardware throughout. Baldwin or better. And faucets- Danze or better. The moving parts in these products are less prone to breakage. The initial cost is more but will pay you back in less maintenance as the property ages. Good luck with your project!...See Moreneed help for the shelves colr with the black kitchen slabs
Comments (31)Just to clarify, you have presented 3 versions. I believe the consensus is the original version with the wood grain ( linen grain) cabinetry works the best and is most updated. The only thing that is out of place are the cabinets or "shelves" on both sides of the range hood. If this is what you need to find a solution too. I would suggest only experimenting with rendering options for these two cabinets( or shelves). This cabinet ties in all the other hard surfaces. The white is not working. It just adds another element. The black is a little dated....See MoreAny suggestion

Spray paint them if you find the perfect size and shape but they aren't the color that you need. Ikea carries white decorative stalks for a very good price. the ones in the 1st picture hold well with small kids around and you don't need a vase for them. there are washi paper or crinkly paper floor lamps with a soft beautifully diffused glow For a budget friendly version check ikea or target http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80028552/...See MoreNeed help for the living room, Indian/Asian/Tribal artistic
Comments (501)Hi Ni, I just thought of something....did you say you planned to do the stencil motifs on the window wall? If so, I am thinking they will be mostly hidden by the curtains. I wonder if it might be better to stencil the long wall that is on the right side of the room when looking toward the window. I could see this being a pretty backdrop to the prayer box (I think that’s what you called it?) and your wood cuttings. Then maybe the opposite wall (the one with the kitchen doorway) could hold a large piece of art?...See MorePat
