tamaltree, There are a few types of wood that don't take paint well. Heavy oily woods, like teak are the kind I mean. Most other kinds of wood will, so long as it is dry, clean and has a slightly rough surface for the paint to adhere to. If you are not a professional or an advanced amateur, don't try for the lacquer. It is toxic and highly flammable. Is that the information you were after?

Your question stands there without providing insight into the decor of your home, the view of the doors from different angles, even considerations such as whether you need privacy in the sense of solid doors or light in the sense of translucent or clear doors for all or any of the doorways. Try providing a photo, a sense of your preferred decorative style, architectural features, etc. and I'm sure you will find some ideas in response to that. Good luck!

No windows big enough. You see we live in the attached apt of a very old house,which the bed would easily fit in. But I guess we could get the newer bed(king,wrought iron,our choice of colours+ it comes apart,not at all cheap! Just easier- but no cool top.,) Thanx Lyn,anyway! Every comment helps- now do you prefer an antique step stool or little stairs to get into a high-mattressed bed?
