One possibility would be to swap the living room and the dining room. Since the current living room is larger than the current dining room you could still keep some comfortable seating (couch and upholstered chairs?) against the front wall for a keeping room/dining concept. Then your new dining areas (kitchen and dining room) and living areas (living and drawing room) would have good flow between them, which would work well both for family and entertaining. You could also add some builtin bookshelves in the drawing room or new living room to create a library area to add another fun element to the living areas. These bookshelves could be against the long walls in the drawing room, around the window with a window seat in the living room (former dining room), or built to create some separation in the open area between the drawing room and living room/stair area. Your plan seems to show some sort of builtin there, but I'm not sure what it is.

This addition of colour can be done by adding the some printed cushions on all the seating. Slip a huge traditional print area rug that will at-least have all the front legs of the furniture on it. Addition of some huge traditional paintings / Wall art / Murals, etc on wall matching the ethnic style of the room. Style your center table & side table with some curios like brass accessories, coffee table books, candles, succulents, etc. Increase the lighting of the room. Can highlight a wall with a wallpaper/ texture wall/ textured paint. Green is good for the eyes! Add some house plants wherever you can. Your chandelier is a bit high, so all it is lighting is the ceiling. You could a light with a floor lamp in the corner for reading on the sofa, and a table lamp next to the bed. Other ways to add more subtle lighting would include an uplight or two to wash a wall. Start with lowering the chandelier a foot or so and adding the lamps. See if that doesn't help. Ignore anyone who says to remove the ceiling fans, because it looks as if you live in a warmer climate and you really need them.
