need help for my project
Comments (6)Well this is a new one for me.....and I've been in this design field for 30+ years. Looking at your elevation it appears you're using overlay doors. Meaning the door is outside of the the frame front......I'm guessing your cabinet maker is seeking an elevation without the doors so he can see the frame fronts and get a better look at the configuration and the size of the cabinet units. While I know of many cabinet craftsmen who could take your sketch and run with it.......one thing I always tell young designers is to draw with a thought in your mind as to how is the craftsman or contractor going to build this either in the shop or in the field. I would suggest that you download Google Sketchup (it's free) and easy to learn how to use it. Then I would suggest that you actually build your cabinets piece by piece just as you would if you were building them in the shop Start with the base, add the frame front the sides, back and supports. Then you can add the drawer fronts and cabinet doors...........if you get really into it you could build the actually drawer units individually....... I do this for every custom design home for clients. Cabinet makers love it, because I'm basically giving them a shop drawing, complete with dimensions and I'm confident that design fits in the intended space down to the width of spacers I need. I also give this package to the framing contractor so he know just how exact I expect his framing for the space to be....See MoreBathroom door jamb
Comments (17)@cornerstone design studio India... Yes, it does seem like a pain now coz a lot of things have changed. And it takes too much time. So basically we just wanted to renovate the bathroom. And change some furniture in the bedroom. But the designer also has some design ideas as they all go for the look and perfection. We cancelled a lot of those ideas. And yet there were so many tiny details that we never thought exist Thank you for your input. Feeling a bit relieved about that. That thing has been eating us inside a lot....See MoreNeed advice on kitchen design
Comments (19)Going with professional has its own advantages. Afterall he is pro, so he has studied more and has more experience. However is this person from the kitchen shoppee, which is giving you quotation of kitchen installation? In such cases, I have experienced that they just make boxy kitchens where they add lotsa fittings, that increases your budget. Open shelves does not need such fittings, so such are omitted...Normal door wali cabinets are less and number of drawers increased. Going on own is not a bad idea, provided you need to study it well. Note down the requirements, classify work areas and so on... In this approach , you have to go bit slower and carefully. Allow some flexibility in design, so that in future , you can alter as per the need. Sometimes we come to know the problems after few months/ years and we cant change it later. Ultimately compare between [your time+ efforts+ study+ error chances] Vs Hiring professional and go ahead accordingly....See MoreGrout problem in Bathroom Renovation
Comments (3)Fareham, Although from your description it appears to be grouting gone wrong thing but attached pics tell a different story. The size of floor tiles selected is not appropriate. It appears that someone may have walked over the tiles while the cement was still wet. If waterproofing was not done properly then these things may eventually snowball into a bigger problem. Looking at the pics , we would not recommend you to call the same contractor anywhere near your place again. It will be costly fix but it should be redone (at least the flooring tiles) to avoid further damages. Thanks, Nitin Cornerstone Designs, Bangalore....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
