Hey, Since that is the circulation zone from the lift to the home, try not to block any of it. You could get rectangular stack-able planters or get them made (There are tons of DIY planter hacks on youtube and pinterest). Ensure that the sort side of the rectangle is the same as the offset that you currently have (it seems to be about 5 or 6 inches). Conversely, you could also get/make a sleek wooden console with a decorative piece on top and a painting/picture frame above that. A fresh coat of paint, wallpaper, accessorize the niche and highlight, change bedding and curtain, DIY a better finish on the bed.
