Front Entry Door Redo
Current door is steel with two 1/2 glass sidelights. Needs to be replaced. Ditching the storm door (hate them). Want natural light and don't mind seeing through glass as none of our living areas are directly behind the entryway. So will do full sidelights this time. Like the craftsman style doors, but want the look to make sense. Sick of the ubiquitous 6 raised panel doors. House
in our area is considered a transitional. Want fiberglass but will paint, not stain. Thinking about a craftsman door. Would do raised instead of recessed panels and no dentil shelf to maintain consistency. Door would have one square top 1/3...maybe geometric contemporary pattern. Would this work?

6 years agoI see you have the panel on top of the current door. Im not sure what is on the inside, but a great idea would be having glass on the top of the door as well for more light. Here are some ideas i found with the top glass and without:

Comments (1)I'd suggest a shallow bench underneath the window and flank the windows with a base cabinet on one side and a desk on the other. Then open book shelves above the base cabinet and desk. I can't tell what the dark wall is on the one end. The steps need to curve from the door to the wall. A smallish sofa would be great for viewing a flat screne TV and a square table and 3 chairs up against the dark wall would be a great place for puzzles and games. Comments (9)This is on 2nd floor. I've seen people reclaim their entry way, but to be sure I'll need to check with the builder on if its mine to rebuild. If not allowed, then shelf from 3rd picture will be the next best thing! Pocket door sure is an interesting idea, but the builder has already installed 3 ft wide door. 6 years agoWe love that you’re still wanting to use your entry door as a vehicle for natural light! We have a lot of door glass options that will fit most steel or fiberglass doors. Our glass is also unique in that you can pick a style that will give you as much (or as little) privacy as you desire, but it will still bring in a lot of that light you’re looking for.
