Is colour creeping back into the kitchen?

Colour is making a comeback in the kitchen but not in
a brash way. Subtle colouring is returning either in cabinetry with soft blues
or greens that give a natural look, or as an accent in a wall, in the middle of
a unit or in one area. We advise against very bold colours all over the kitchen
as you can easily tire of bright colour but introducing an accent or a soft
colour brings the kitchen alive.

I have a lime green accent wall and I love it. Others are pale grey.

Yes we're definitely seeing a return to colour. We have been quite experimental in our colours - opting for clean lines in the cabinetry to not make the space too fussy.

Thanks!!! That looks lovely...!! Unfortunately the white counter wont work for the kitchen im planning - abundant turmeric in Indian cooking precludes any soft colour.. Went out today and got myself a black countertop with white veins (I HATE granite), and am now planning white shutters to go with it instead of the grey... Any other thoughts? Am not mulling over the backsplash...

One particular kitchen we renovated as part of an open plan studio apartment certainly fits into this colour-accenting trend (see below). The patent sky blue backsplash really opens up the room, complementing the range of grey tones and textures.
