I'd repeat the flooring & choose white granite-quartz for counter and run it up the back splash too. Or you could have white subway tiles as back splash. photo 1

Unfortunately the white counter wont work for the kitchen im planning - abundant turmeric in Indian cooking precludes any soft colour..

Went out today and got myself a black countertop with white veins (I HATE granite), and am now planning white shutters to go with it instead of the grey...

Any other thoughts?

Am not mulling over the backsplash...

Use the turmeric color in several places in the kitchen. A "turmeric" vase or something will be lovely.

BTW have you found rubbing fresh fish with turmeric keeps fish more fresh?

Carrying the counter (black with white vein) up for the back splash might be a thought.

Now you have white shutters on cabinets and not gray cabinet doors?

The white floor and cabinets might counter the black/white vein on both counter and back splash.

I think black/white veins would be nice on back splash + cleaning is a breeze + a touch of the turmeric color as accent (towels, vase) would be an interesting accent.

When I boil green beans I always add turmeric to the water, they taste more fresh. :)
